Johanna's Journey

From Mondesa to Nursing School – A
Story of Determination and Hope

Johanna is a second-year Bachelor of Nursing Science student at Welwitschia Health Training Center in Walvis Bay.

Raised in the township of Mondesa, Johanna’s determination and academic promise were recognized early through the Mondesa Youth Opportunities program.

At Namib High School, she excelled as a student leader – voted Best Overall Learner and serving as Treasurer of the Learners’ Representative Council and a member of the Junior Erongo Regional Council of Swakopmund.

Today, Johanna is pursuing her dream of becoming a nurse who serves her
community. Through the Namib Futures Scholarship, she receives support for tuition, housing, and living expenses, allowing her to focus on her studies and future.

Crystal's Journey

Crunching the numbers

Crystal is a 2nd year student studying Accounting at University of Stellenbosch in South Africa. She was always good and loved maths and has an overall ambition of
becoming a chartered accountant and eventually helping to improve the financial status of communities, institutions and government entities.

Crystal was accepted into Mondesa Youth Opportunities academic support program in Grade 6 and was later admitted to Namib High where she excelled, winning the Learner Management Award in Grade 12.

Crystal is a very hard worker, overcoming multiple obstacles in her endeavor to pursue higher education. Namib Futures is proud to help with her accommodations in South Africa as she works towards her Bachelor’s degree.

invaluable, and the
commitment to help individuals like
